Anyway, in non sleep related news, he's doing great. I forgot to put in yesterday's update that in addition to having his arterial and central lines removed on Friday, yesterday his 2 peripheral IVs were taken out. (And on Saturday he got that darn Foley catheter removed.) So just the PICC line left for delivering meds. And of course the ET, NG, and gas removing (don't know the real name) tubes are left. I'm hearing they hope to have him off the vent in the next day or so. After that he'll hopefully be able to go straight to the nasal cannula since kids his age typically don't tolerate CPAP very well. He'll stay in the PICU for a day or two once he's on the cannula just to make sure he's doing ok and then he'll be moved to the regular floor to make sure he's feeding fine and for physical and speech therapy to check him out thoroughly and make sure he's at least close to where he was
skill wise before he got sick.
He's doing so well he has graduated to sharing his nurse with another patient. He doesn't seem too happy about sharing his night nurse though. She was on duty when he was admitted and has had him every time she's worked since then. He's being stingy and difficult so she can't spend time with the other baby. He's a rascal.
The girls are doing well. The first week JW and I were up here the girls had Nana to keep them company. Last week Grams arrived to keep them busy. Today was their first time meeting another set of identical twins. The husband of a friend of mine braved taking care of Kota and Georgia in addition to his own 2.5 year old twin girls and 1 year old son. They had fun and apparently kept P and C entertained. Tomorrow they get to hang out at Pastor Tony's house. Then Wednesday and Thursday they get to spend with their favorite NICU secretary and finally get to meet her dogs, Koda and Lily. I'm sure they are beyond excited at that prospect. Really, what more could they want for Christmas? :)
