he's having another great day. He's done great with 2 pressure support trials. He has one more around midnight and assuming all continues to go well, he'll be taken off the vent sometime tomorrow. Because he's been on the vent for so long there's the possibility of some airway inflamation, so he's being given steroids to help with that. If the inflamation is too bad (slim possibility) he will have to be put back on the vent until the steroids can really take effect.
He's also being given some meds to help with the withdrawals symptoms of coming off the the sedatives (nasty narcotics).
Overall though, he's still a little rockstar!
